Abstract
Backgroud : The fatty liver can usually be detected by utsound. It is one of the commonest causes of raised serum transaminase value detected in "Healthy blood donor". Therefore, carried out this study to determine the relationship between contributing factors of fatty liver and increased transaminase.
Method : Liver function tests, obesity index. contributing factors and age and sex distribution were analyzed with 362 fatty liver case those were dignosed by ultrasonography for the healthcare examination at Wallace Memorial Baptist Hospital from April 1995 to March 1996. Fatty liver case were devied arbitracy into two group I (below transaminase 40U/L) and group ¥± (up transaminase 40U/L)and were compared etiologically between both group. In this study, patients who were conanned as hepatitis or diabetic mellitus or the group of obesity with alcohol were exclued.
Result : Distribution of the fatty liver group were 267 cases (73.8%) as group 1 95 cases (26.2%) as group ll , Suspected etiologies were obesity (83.9%), alcohol (16.1%) in group I, obesity(¡¤41.1%). alcohol(58.9%) in group ¥±. The significant relationships between increased transaminase and contributing factors were observed.
Conclution : In this study. serum transaminase was associated with risk factors. Therefore. fatty liver needs more close and frequent clinical traces individually.
